July 4th , 2005 - Millet District, Alberta Age: 45 Cst. Jose Agostinho was born on the 9th of March 1960 in Penticton, British Columbia. Jose died while on duty on July 4, 2005, as a result of a traffic collision. Jose completed training at Depot on May 21st, 1996, at which time he was engaged in the Force and was posted to "K" Division, Alberta, at Cold Lake Detachment where he worked in General Policing. He transferred to Wetaskiwin Detachment on July 9, 2003, where he worked in General Policing. Prior to joining the RCMP, Jose served as a pilot with the Canadian Armed Forces Search and Rescue, a goal he had set for himself at the age of nine. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1995 after 17 years of service. Jose's love of flying continued even after his military career concluded. He served as Commanding Officer of the Cold Lake Air Cadets and later the Leduc Air Cadets. His colleagues from both the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces fondly recall Jose's dedication, willingness to always lend a hand, sense of humour and creativity in approaching challenges. Jose leaves behind, his wife Cheryl, his 18 year old daughter Stephanie,
his 14 year old son James, his parents Manual and Lourdes, and his brother
Victor.
